Sıcaklıkları farklı iki akışkanın birbirinden paslanmaz çelik plakalar yardımı ile ayrıldığı ve bu plakaların iki akışkan arasında ısı transferi yapmasının sağlandığı ekipmanlar olan plakalı eşanjörler, diğer eşanjörlere göre daha fazla ısı transfer verimliliği sunar. Kombi içerisinde kullanıldığı durumda sıcak su üretmeye yarayan bileşen olarak görev yapar. İçinden geçen kombideki ısıtma tesisat suyu ile su şebekesinden gelen soğuk suyu ısıtır.
